Apache and Colorist Steve Rodriguez are proud to have worked on the documentary short “Temple Beauty,” which will be screened later this month at the HollyShorts Film Festival. The film tells the story of a black-owned business in Compton, CA that opened right before COVID lockdowns began in 2020.
“Temple Beauty”
Monday, August 15th @ 12:00 p.m.
TCL Chinese 6 Theater, Hollywood
“Temple Beauty” centers on Amber Osborne, who owns and operates Temple Beauty Supplies in Compton, CA. When she opened an adjacent mini-mart in February 2020, no one would’ve predicted how the rest of the year would unfold. With the mini-mart making her store an essential business, Osborne and her family first worked to keep in stock what her community needed to survive a pandemic and later the pain and anguish that resulted in the Black Lives Matter protests.
