EP John Hollingsworth & Director Matt Genesis Join Forces to Launch Late Shift

Seasoned Executive Producer John Hollingsworth and accomplished Director Matt Genesis announce the launch of Late Shift, a production company born from their years of collaboration and shared passion for craft-focused filmmaking. With a hands-on approach and a commitment to maximizing on-screen value for their clients, Late Shift blends strategic innovation with time-tested methods to bring creative visions to life.  

“Starting Late Shift with Matt feels like the natural next step in our longtime partnership,” shares Hollingsworth. “Late Shift is our opportunity to bring a fresh perspective to filmmaking—where every detail matters, every production is handled with care, and the craft is honored through traditional techniques without shortcuts. We’re passionate about creating work that stands the test of time, not just chasing trends, and setting a high standard for creativity and collaboration along the way.” 

Late Shift features a creatively powerful Director Roster, which includes: Matt Genesis, scout, Sarah Jacquier, GoshDamn, Jonas McQuiggin, and Lavender & Ravenscroft, with more Director signings coming in early 2025. 

“John and I first worked together years ago on a challenging Casper campaign where a Nor’easter dropped three feet of snow on our already ambitious shoot,” shares Genesis. “Despite the chaos, we quickly found that we thrive under pressure and work even better together when stakes are high. Starting Late Shift with John feels natural—we share a passion for thoughtful, detail-driven filmmaking and want to create a company that reflects that. Late Shift is about working hard, solving problems, and collaborating with people you’d stay up late with to get it done right.”

Matt Genesis Bio: 

Matt Genesis is a commercial and music video Director with a background in choreography, having performed with artists like David Guetta, Kesha, and Jason Derulo. His experiences on shows such as “America’s Best Dance Crew” and Disney’s “Shake It Up” ignited his passion for filmmaking, shaping a career defined by a distinct rhythm and style influenced by his roots in dance. Pairing that with being an accomplished Editor not only informs his creative decisions but allows him to cut in real time on set, crafting work that blends cinematic grandeur with authentic performances. 

John Hollingsworth Bio: 

John Hollingsworth is a Filmmaker and Producer with a career spanning indie film, advertising, and app development. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, John honed his craft in independent film before being tapped to build an in-house production arm for a major advertising agency. His freelance experience as a line producer, post-producer and agency producer provided him with a comprehensive perspective on the production process. Now, as Managing Partner and Executive Producer at Late Shift, John combines his passion for traditional filmmaking with a modern, detail-driven approach, creating enduring work alongside Co-Founder Matt Genesis. In addition to Late Shift, John is also the Founder of GigFix, an innovative app that connects crew and producers to job opportunities through film content, demonstrating his commitment to improving the industry for everyone involved.
