Smart phone manufacturer Huawei wanted to promote the P8's Light Painting feature. So they went to Cappadocia, a visually stunning part of Turkey, took more than 50 pigeons, and did a night time shoot in the sky. The pigeons were trained thanks to Ali the Birdman. As for the shoot, it took a month and a half of preparation, a bird sanctuary, some major coordination and training of said birds, 200 LED lights, and the hope that the P8's low-light feature would deliver. I wish that had been two minutes instead of three as I did get a little tired of reading the subtitles repeating the fact they were going to put the LED's on the pigeons. But the results are quite fun and a great creative way to showcase the benefit of one of the smart phone's camera features. Also, according to the press release, the locals thought they were seeing UFO's, so there's that.
