LOS FILMS SIGNS DIRECTOR GRANT SPANIER

LOS FILMS, the production division of creative studio LOS YORK, is excited to announce the signing of director Grant Spanier, a Los Angeles based director, photographer and creative director. His work in music videos, artist photography and creative direction has spanned the globe for artists including Rosalía, Megan Thee Stallion, Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, Haim, Giveon, Lolo Zouaï, Troye Sivan, Olivia Rodrigo (including her breakout “Sour” album) and more.

Spanier’s commercial work includes films and images for adidas Originals, Netflix, Samsung, Louis Vuitton, Nike, Disney, H&M, Apple, Puma (LaMelo Ball), Happy Socks (David Hasselhoff), Pleasing (Harry Styles), Live Nation (Willie Nelson), Foot Locker, Hennessy, McDonald’s and a global Reebok campaign shot across China, Japan and South Korea. In 2018 Spanier was recognized by Kodak and the International Center of Photography in New York City as one of nine “Emerging Analog” film photographers worldwide. In 2021 he released his debut photo book, “After We Die, What Then?” in conjunction with The Avalanches’ “We Will Always Love You” record.

LOS FILMS Head of Production, Chris Abitbol said: “Grant’s multidisciplinary background in design, photography, and advertising gives him the ability to approach projects from various angles, making his work super-fresh and contemporary. I’ve always been immediately drawn to work that not just inhabits the zeitgeist, but plays a role in creating popular culture - and this is where Grant’s work lives firmly. LOS FILMS is lucky to have him!”

Spanier’s directing style is rooted in a strong visual foundation, often characterized by moody, filmic tones and a photographic approach. He frequently shoots on film, blending nostalgia with modern techniques to create work that feels both timeless and innovative. His ability to adapt his style to each project, while maintaining a strong creative vision, sets him apart as a true chameleon in the industry.

Spanier loves to build worlds, whether for brands or the artists and films. He pushes boundaries in both commercial and narrative projects, and is particularly drawn to conceptual work (often with a dark sense of humor or playfully tongue-in-cheek). His recent projects include a music video for Dom Dolla/Tove Lo’s “Cave” and another collaboration with Dua Saleh, photographing the artwork for their debut album “I Should Call Them” as well as directing the music video for “Want” the lead single.

“The goal is to make memorable, iconic work with brands and artists interested in shaping culture — LOS YORK / LOS FILMS is the perfect place to do that,” said Spanier. “I couldn’t be more excited to take the next step with a cohort of like-minded creative people.”
