They say your life flashes before your eyes at the moment of death, but Volvo's latest cinematic venture chooses a different path, adding a twist that could make even Death pause for a second look.
This cinematic gem kicks off with a chap discovering his wife is expecting. He excitedly calls his mum to share the news, while his better half ventures into the wilds of the outside world to fetch their dinner. As he speaks to his mother, he envisions his future daughter, Maya, navigating the ups and downs of life - from her royal princess phase to the inevitable teenage heartbreak, to her brave solo adventures into the unknown.
I don't want to ruin it by giving away the plot, so let's just say Stockholm's own Marcus Ibanez has concocted a narrative that's as heartwarming as it is unexpected, with a twist that'll sock you in the feels.
The film's emotional depth is beautifully captured through the lens of Oscar-winning cinematographer Hoyten van Hoytema, whose visuals are so stunning, they might just make you weep before the story even gets to its tear-jerking moments. So, stock up on Kleenex, because you're going to need it.
