Well, that was quicker than a Hufflepuff student finding the library. The "I love J.K. Rowling" billboard campaign in Frankfurt's central station has set a new record for becoming the most provocative yet deceptively innocuous advertisement of the 2020s. It went up and came down faster than you can say "Muggle."
Apparently, the billboard didn't even get a chance to bask in its own controversy before the complainers had it pulled down. Cancel culture, it seems, has mastered the art of speed dating with outrage.
The catalyst this time? None other than the magazine queer.de, rallying the troops.
Karl-Heinz Brunner tweeted:
"This message is a provocation for all queer people. It is well known that J.K. Rowling incites hatred against transgender people. That is why I have contacted Deutsche Bahn and Stroer directly to put a stop to this immediately."
