There's a bit of a scandal brewing in Korea, as Koreabang lays out the story on how Hollister models mocked asians at the opening of their store.
From Koreabang:
One of the models who attended the opening posted a picture to his twitter (@vin_****) of himself taken in front of Gyeongbokkung Palace with his eyes squinted closed and his lips open. Netizens who saw the photo pointed out how it was making fun of Asians with “squinty eyes”. Another model from the same Hollister event posted similar photos to his Twitter account.
One Twitter user who seems to have worked with the Hollister model before commented on his photo, “please look at how many Asians liked that picture… impressive.” The problem lies in the fact that the original poster of the photo replied with another comment making fun of Asians. The model mocked Asians’ typical English pronunciation, saying, “Hahahaha they ruhhvvvv itttt!”
( Those who can read Korean please see joongang, HOT issue and Chosun for a Korean take on this.)
Hollister has apologized and "fired the people involved" in other words these models won't be opening another Hollister store any time soon. They've also posted this statement on their brand facebook page.
"In summary, the company terminated the couple of associates involved. On behalf of our more than 80,000 associates around the world who cherish our core values and our culture of diversity and inclusion, we sincerely apologize for the offense caused by these unauthorized, ill-considered actions."
Hollister looks like a meathead brand, I'm not at all surprised that the models chosen to represent the meathead brand actually acted like meatheads. THEY'RE ON BRAND, GOSH DARNIT!
These animals hopefully won't get any more modelling work, I sure wouldn't want some racist idiot representing my brand.

PermalinkHonestly I think its awful and inexcusable. But the south korean media will do just about anything to sensationalize any form of racial discrimination toward them and excuse anything done to foreigners in their country.
