You know that I'm exited about Tron, and right now I'm listening to the Daft Punk's Tron legacy score which has been leaked online and helpfully uploaded to youtube for maximum spread.
This will not please Disney. Unless of course, they are the ones responsible for the leaking... Hmm.
The Tron movie came about in an interesting way, at the Boards Summit Ed Ulbrich, from Digital Domain explained: "Tron is not a movie" the case study of how a prototype launched a multi-faceted world. Tron is not, and never will be just the film.
Previously on Tron, the Flynn Lives - Grid Concept / Prototype film and that same film as a mashup with Michael Jacksons "Beat It".
Tron Legacy hits U.S. theaters on Dec. 17, 2010 in Disney Digital 3D™ and IMAX® 3D and I'm already looking for my Tardis because, gawd, I can't wait!
TRON: LEGACY - Trailer - (2010) 2:21 (USA)
Edit OMG Bonus! Extended versions over here from 107.7 thanks metafilter. These tracks sound nothing like the youtubified ones, and IMHO are much better.
Having friends who work in movie production (set building etc) and because I target these companies as clients for my business, I am fairly knowledgeable on their business model. No movie is a lock. I see many that lose money up front (though I am sure almost all movies recoup after via cable, DVD etc). I would suspect if Daft Punk did the sound track (cost a lot to have them do it) this was leaked to build excitement.
Let me throw this out there: Iron Man 2. Cost $200mil to make. They spent $100mil to market. That probably equates into $375mil in ticket sales to just break even. They made money but not returns like Avatar or the Hangover.
No pressure on Tron. But it looks great. Iron Man 2 looked horrible so waiting on Netflix.

PermalinkIt's looking like this leak is yet-another-fakeout now, if you compare the clips to the official extended ones at the bottom of the post, the official ones sound more like a soundtrack, and are better in general. IMHO, YMMV.
So maybe real, mebbe some giant Daft Punk fan having some fun. Again.

PermalinkAH well, it was fun while it lasted. Cinematical says;
and by "after the jump" they mean "all those youtube tracks", and by "posted below" they mean "all the tracks here at 107.7 / last link in the above post. Ho-kay!

PermalinkAre Cinematical trustworthy?

PermalinkWho knows. I'm sure they're right though, after listening my way through both links, the second link sounds way more soundtrack-y and IMHO, much better.
