You've seen the new iPad ad. You've seen everyone complain about it on social media. You've read Creative Director Evan Brown's take on it. You've seen the headlines in Adage, in CNN, in The atlantic, The New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal. Even celebrities like Hugh Grant and Justine Bateman has a negative opinion about the ad.
But did you too recall that the LG KC910 Renoir was launched in the exact same way? Yup, but this was way back in 2008.
By the way, the song is '4 Chords' by Barney Freeman & Ben Vella, aka 1001 Knights, from the album 'Original & Quirky'. The ad was created by BBH in London.
Meanwhile, Actor&Writer Reza Sixo Safai lets us know that he's helpfully fixed Apples ad. By running it in reverse.
Hey @Apple, I fixed it for you (sound on) pic.twitter.com/OwVnYNgXhT

Now, I'll go put my beat up Heaven 17 vinyl on my record player and play "Crushed by the Wheels of Industry" until I get sick of it again, which I do every 5 years or so.
Excellent recall, although the cultural mood music was different 15 years ago.
Back then it was -helpful tools, now there's a 'sense' human creativity is under attack.
Clever fix by Reza.
