Coca-Cola - Letter to santa / Christmas (2020) (USA)

Yes, you might see the twist coming a mile away, but for a lot of people the new Coca-Cola's Christmas advert is proving to be another tear-jerker. Story is very simple, dad goes away for work and his daughter rushes to give him a letter to deliver to santa.

Later, on the oilrig far out at sea, he discovers that he forgot to mail it, and chases after the post boat to send it off. This leads to him being stranded on a deserted island and then having to travel an epic journey to the north pole to hand deliver the letter. Directed by Oscar winner Taika Waititi, who  worked on JoJo Rabbit and Thor: Ragnarok, the commercial is firmly placed in a kind dreamland where it's perfectly plausable that a man would trek to the north pole on foot after wading through a jungle. Even if you do see the twist coming a mile away, the ad might melt your heart. The Coke presser reminds us to try and be there with each other over Christmas, "even if it's by Skype, phone or Zoom". We shall.
