In a move that surprises only those who don't quite understand the christian ideals at the foundation of Chick-fil-A business philosophy, the Orlando restaurants were hard at work on Sunday. The Orlando location at University and Rouse Road fired up the grill, as did Chick-fil-A Lee Vista on Semoran Blvd, and employees donated their off-time to make food and donating assistance for those in need. They went around the blood donation lines with free sandwiches and ice cold ice-tea for those who cued up for hours to donate blood. Humbly, a spokesperson explained the action:
"Our restaurant, along with a couple of others in the area, simply responded just like numerous other Orlando businesses and residents have done -- we came together as a community to lift those in need."
No big deal. Chick-fil-A employees also drove around serving sandwiches to the hundreds of law enforcement officials who responded to the shooting. Local Pizza Hut restaurants also donated food to blood donation cues and helped out.
The seething hatred is palpable.
