With more than 2.4 million videos uploaded, the ice bucket challenge has been a global success. While the cause is noble, not everyone is thrilled about the water waste. Especially in Brazil where water can be a precious resource that not everyone has access to.
Brazilian agency NBS and the NGO OndAzul, founded by Brazilian icon Gilberto Gil created the empty bucket movement in response. On the Empty Bucket website created by NBS, people can share videos dumping empty buckets over their heads and find the bank accounts to support ALS Association, responsible for ALS researches.
