Check out STLforSANDY.com, where the City of St. Louis engages residents to donate much needed supplies to victims of Sandy. The effort is the brainchild of Switch, an agency used to producing major events for its clients.
"The idea came up in a meeting here at Switch; knowing how many times we’ve done quick-turn, multi-faceted initiatives for our clients; it only made sense for us to mobilize our resources for this truly worthy cause. We all have friends, clients and relatives benefitting from these efforts. It really is as simple as one community helping another in need," said Switch Marketing Manager Andrew Mullins.
The City of St. Louis, with the help of Ann Chance, Director of Special Events for the city, is helping coordinate efforts in the city and with the Veteran’s Parade organizers so donations can be dropped off during the ceremonies and before the parade on Saturday.
“We’ve gotten tremendous support locally … with CBS affiliates the first to get on board, followed closely by the City of St. Louis and the American Red Cross. I think the residents of the St. Louis Metropolitan area understand that putting lives back together after Sandy’s devastation is a going to be an ongoing challenge. We remember how generous other parts of the country were in helping Missourians rebuild after the great flood of 93’ and the Joplin tornado. This is our opportunity to repay and assist those in desperate need on the East Coast,” said Switch President John Nickel.
If you are in the area and want to donate, you have these times to do so.
