ReWork is helping Austin's homeless get back on their feet

Austin has a homeless problem. There are 2,300 homeless living on the street every night. There are somewhere between three and five thousand homeless students. Solving the problem seems insurmountable. But as any good creative with a good heart knows, those are the most rewarding problems to solve. Enter the ReWork Project. This organization was started by a couple of locals trying to make a positive impact on the homeless situation in Austin. ReWork teaches homeless participants in Austin job and life skills by teaching them how to make handcrafted outdoor wood products. Now they have their own campaign thanks to a group of Austin-based creatives who donated time outside their respective jobs.

Far from being an arts and crafts class, ReWork promotes a job-like atmosphere. They require applications, and regular work hours, too. Along the way they learn dignity and mutual respect for others. On ReWorks site you'll also find a couple of < href="https://reworkproject.org/stories/"> success stories, a shop featuring everything from birdhouses to outdoor tables and < a href="ps://reworkproject.org/product/carrier/"> more. !00% of the proceeds go to the homeless who participate. And while unfortunately the products are only available for local pick-up, if you want to help and aren't in the Austin area, you can donate as well.

Great job, guys.
