devnuller - you are not a super adgrunt. You see this text instead of the ad (blockquote below). Follow the links. There's even a FAQ questions and answer for you: how can I view ads?
Sweetie! Ads in the archive are only available to subscribers! When you log in you can comment, bookmark stuff here and rate stuff and you'll never see textads - if you decide to upgrade to super adgrunt you can watch all 40.000 Quicktime commercials in the archive. You can choose to upgrade with a credit card OR brownie points earned here and for a short time like a month or a full year- see >the upgrade page for options. If you need more information, try eading the frequently asked questions, thanks.
Great commercial. If I had a dollar for every one of these techies who come up with "cute" programs and applications which have no correlation to the overall business strategy, I could buy IBM. Well said...the point of innovation is to make ACTUAL money.
Paypal thinks we serve porn and froze our assets in 2004 due to this perfume ad poster. Since then we don't touch paypal with a ten foot pole.
I'm really sorry that the credit card (which is what you'd use at Paypal as well) is complicated for you - honestly I'd like nothing more than to have access for all on all the ads but the bills for server and bandwidth are tremendous and I need to keep the money I earn on my dayjob to pay for things that my family needs, such as food, housing and new shoes - not spend two thirds of my paycheck before taxes on server co-location bills like I did pre-2002. That was just stupid.
But hey if you know a big company that might be interested in picking up the tab why not direct them here.
I've been a bit busy, and expect to send an email to my wealthy acquantaince this week (Holiday Greetings time, etc.). I have my email letter to him 97% complete (and I included 90+% of your email to me). [He used to be very high up in Microsoft, for many years, before he started his current venture].
Hopefully, he'll be interested, and will get in touch with you soon.

Complicated is the wrong term...how about buried. It took me a few minutes to find and understand the upgrade process.
I love the concept/content of your site. I found it by following the link to this new IBM TV spot from a few blogs. Suggestion: I'd like to be able to "pay for peek" of this single ad rather than upgrade. My experience tells me you might be able to get more money for shoes that way. It's just a few weeks away from being on YouTube anyway...
Just to be clear - the site doesn't bring in money for shoes, only for it's own expenses such as servers and bandwidth.
As a pay for peek option, I just added a smaller option the seven day upgrade, it'll be two bob or 120 brownie points. Just made that as per your suggestion. A single day upgrade seems a little silly.
And as for making the upgrading thing more obvious, we've been talking about that in the comments here. It seems links that alert you to this before one signs up and links in the message seen by non-super adgrunts aren't working, and I'm a little stumped on this little problem. It's a little difficult to see the site as others see it, I think I'm making it dead obvious but obviously not, aye? So, I guess I should tweak that text again, and possibly add an entire FAQ sections dedicated to the topic of upgrading.
I don't know, it seems dead obvious to me. I had seen an earlier incarnation of this site a few years back, but I refound it earlier this year when I was looking for the SEB "Forever Young" spot. I found the spot, and immediately saw that I had to upgrade to watch it, or download it. It took me all of 60 seconds to upgrade and everything was Hunky Dory. And I always see the messages for non-super adgrunts when I'm on the site and I'm not logged in, so I'm not sure how they could be working for me, but not for others. I have noticed some other little glitches with the site, but that's not one of them.
The going rate is 5 Euros for a month. That's about $7.50 (USD). That's like morning coffee at Starbucks with a biscotti.
You get a month of downloading any of the ads here, which are here legally (since many are sent by the creators). Not only can you get the IBM Avatar ad, you can also get the new (2007) "PC vs. Mac" Christmas Carol (with great 'nostalgic' animation), or dozens upon dozens of Super Bowl ads (nearly all of them).
Allan... "Remember, no matter where you go... There you are." (Buckaroo Banzai).
Maybe Åsk can get the police to stop people and hand out Adland coupons. :-) I know this only makes sense if you've read the Starbucks thread, but still...I think the super-adgrunt fees are pretty reasonable. And I even thought so that very first time when I was only looking for the one SEB spot. I was more than delighted to know that there was a place I could come and find spots I was looking for, and it seemed reasonable to me to pay a small fee to support the cost of running such a valuable resource.
I've had so many problems over the years with Paypal both as a vendor and consumer that just hearing their name sends shudders down my back. They were slightly better in the pre-Ebay years, but now if the only option I have for payment is to use them, I just pass. I would no sooner give them my credit card information then I'd give a stranger the keys to my house.
I don't think Hatman2008 meant it was expensive, just hard to find (that's how I understood it) or hard to do. He abandoned a shopping cart so he got half-way there, it's possible he wanted to use another type of credit card (like the über expensive American Express or somesuch) but really I can only guess why the cart was abandoned. Perhaps there were too many steps - there are many, because I want people to have the option f double-checking their transaction before completing it.
Anyway, to try and remedy this, I've added the seven day short option upgrade, and added a special how-to section in the FAQ about upgrading. Instead of linking directly to the super adgrunt options page (as I did before) on both the sign-up page and on every commercial page (when not upgraded) I will now also link to that part of the FAQ to help explain things for newcomers. I hope that helps. Course if one doesn't click the links one will not understand.
Edit: actually the sign-up page already says this. I'm note sure what I should change here:
What do adgrunts get when they sign in? Full list of features under that link. Note - super adgrunt upgrades are only available for adgrunts. This is why most people sign in, but you don't have to upgrade for the commercials if that's not your cup of tea. It's free to roam the forums and articles and rate stuff and set up your own bookmarks here, etc etc. See FAQ for most frequently asked questions.;)This registration form will send you an email. Please check that you spell your email correctly. :)
Hehe, I like.
