Human Rights Day - the “Silenced Newspaper” carries only news of the marginalized (2017)

On December 10th, Human Rights Day, a tiny newspaper was handed out in three places in Shibuya, one of the most diverse places in Japan where fashion creators, subcultures, trendsetters, and LGBTQ people hang out - many of the mentioned are women.

The newspaper was a micro newspaper called “Silenced Newspaper”, which gathered stories of the marginalized.  This project aims to make people realize that there are a lot of "unheard voices of struggles and triumphs" from the marginalized groups out there such as women,  children in poverty, people with disabilities, and LGBT identifying people.

The micro newspaper featured eight individuals or groups of people who experienced or confronted discrimination.
