“We’re all delighted to welcome The Vikings to Furlined,” remarked Diane McArter, President of Furlined.
Director Bjoern Ruehmann is the founder of The Vikings Imperium. The Vikings debuted in 2007 with “Wind,” a short film for the German Environmental Ministry. “Wind” was noted as the world's second most-awarded spot in 2007 according to the Gunn Report. It received a Gold Lion at Cannes and an honorable mention in the Dramatic Short Film category at Sundance in 2008.
Bjoern’s recent commercial work includes Cravendale, “Milk Me Brian,” out of Wieden + Kennedy/London and Puma, with Droga5/NY.
The Vikings is a collective of like-minded souls that explore creative realms beyond just traditional commercial media. Bjoern’s collaborations have spawned social projects and theatrical short films. “Planet,” starring Nikolai Kinski, examines the long-term consequences of unsustainable development and industrialization. The film screened at festivals across the globe, including Toronto, Paris, Barcelona, and Denmark. Another short film, “Fear My Kingdom,” is currently in post-production and will be released in early 2012.
Bjoern hails from the agency side, having worked as a senior creative for TBWA Paris. His work has garnered many international awards.
Born in Goettingen, Germany, Bjoern currently lives with his wife, Kerstin, in New York. Kerstin is an illustrator and often collaborates with The Vikings.
The Vikings are represented by Furlined in the U.S., Friend in the U.K. and Soft Citizen in Canada.
