As teased with a 60 second clip in the 2019 Superbowl LIII commercials, Ridley Scott's six-minute film is now available on Turkish Airlines social media channels. This is the first commercial that Ridley Scott has directed in 15 years. The film has two stars, Sylvia Hoeks and the Istanbul airport, the main hub to which Turkish Airlines flies more than anywhere else. The movie is a short film noir style chase, a classic detective story if you will, and it is up to the viewer to solve the mystery.
Featuring locations such as Istanbul Airport, Çırağan Palace, Şerefiye Cistern, and Ortaköy Square, the movie was filmed in four days. Ridley Scott was so enamoured by the atmosphere of the cistern that he made visual references to his movies during the scenes he filmed here.
Istanbul Airport scenes had a cast of 250 people, while the entire film had a total of 500 actors and extras. The scenes at the airport feature Turkish Airlines’ cabin personnel wearing their new uniforms and innovations in inflight cabin design, showing off new features.
M. İlker Aycı, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, commented: “When viewers tuned into the Super Bowl on Sunday they were treated to a stunning portrayal of Istanbul in this thrilling film from Ridley Scott. We invite travelers around the world to join us on our journey and experience true Turkish hospitality at our brand new home at Istanbul Airport .”
Director and Producer Ridley Scott said: “Istanbul is an inspiring city to build a story around with its beautiful topography surrounded by water. The city is a powerful backdrop to the story that brings together the main characters in an exciting and spectacular way, much as Istanbul has done for generations.”

PermalinkMake a full length movie! Please!! I realize it's a commercial, but I didn't want it to end. Usually, I get up and leave the room when the commercials appear.
