Toronto-based Barrett and Welsh today confirmed that it has added three new clients in a six-month
span and promises the announcement of a fourth shortly. The clients are Logix, North
America’s premier building technology solutions provider, VivaNext - York Region’s rapid
transit planning brand and the City of Brampton’s Economic Development brand.
Ishan Ghosh who joined the agency as partner and CEO last year, and spearheaded the
new business initiative, said “Our new clients chose us because they love our commitment
to game-changing ideas. It doesn’t matter whether it’s packaged goods, multicultural,
government or business-to-business. We never return with the typical bundle of
marketing platitudes – we develop incredibly disciplined strategic boxes and detonate
creative that explodes right out of them. “
Mr Ghosh believes many Canadian clients are turning increasingly to small, agile shops
like Barrett and Welsh where the senior-most talent have a direct impact on the work. “In
big shops the best and brightest are taken out of the game as we rise but here, we bring
our brains to the boardroom table every single time. It’s exciting for us and for our clients
and it’s why we’re growing so fast in a recession.“
Mr Ghosh was previously Executive Vice President, Strategy, at Brand Factory. Before that
he was Director of Strategic Initiatives on the BMO account at Vickers and Benson Arnold.
He has been a sessional lecturer in branding and advertising at the University of
Toronto/Rotman, and McMaster. He sits on the juries for Canada’s Next Top Ad Executive
and the Georgies, CHBA’s marketing awards and serves as an advisor on the Toronto Star’s
real estate expert panel.
He adds, “Barrett and Welsh was founded on a simple enough notion: that it would be
driven by great creative ideas, great strategic ideas and great people. We’re lucky that a
lot of our clients like that. End of story.”
