In the 1990s Tampas ran a series of "helpline" ads in Seventeen magazine. One could call a number and ask all sorts of questions about tampons, Tampax in particular, and a presumably fresh-faced teenager on the other end of the line would answer all of these questions and send you a sample box of Tampax. A great way to get young girls who otherwise may not purchase the product to at least give it a try. I'm quite surprised that the "virgin" myth still had to be addressed head-on in the early 1990s.
