Superfad's Justin Leibow and a team of illustrators and animators bring to life a :30 second spot for Chase Card Services. With a catchy theme song (created by Beacon Street Studios, Santa Monica, CA) and fun concept, Superfad's use of bright colors, and bold typeface create a happy go lucky character.
The new spot aims to drive traffic to an area of Facebook, a college networking site, that is geared towards teaching consumers about responsible spending habits. "Sally Spends-a-lot" is a quirky character that constantly spends outside of her means, buying jeans, diamond TV screens and even a time machine. Ultimately, Sally ends up ruining her credit. She then has to use her time machine to go back and teach herself how to manage her money.
"After 72 and Sunny shared their script with us, 3 of us sat down and brainstormed," says Creative Director Justine Leibow, "We were eager to create visual gags that amplified the entire narrative." The ideas just flowed. The unique nature of this spot is found in the rare combination of 2 different illustration styles brought to life by Superfad's Adam Green & Russ Murphy and infused with the graphic design of Justin Leibow. All of this supported a character drawn by REAS (Todd James). Superfad only had two weeks to create, animate and deliver the spot. Justin sums up the experience; "The one out of the ordinary thing was the sheer volume of people we had! It was a quick turnaround and it just so happened that everybody got to lend a hand at one point or another. Truly a great experience."
