Heckler & Koch tweet out against gun bunnies, in reply to fresh controversy over Miller Lite women's history month ad.

It's possible that Heckler & Koch have finally topped their backward bullet blunder. Their official Twitter account made the mistake of replying to this tweet, and it quickly spiraled downhill from there. This tweet made by GrahamAllen_1 falsely claims that "Miller lite just dropped this woke advertisement", and shows the women's history month ad which recently went viral and got backlash as conservative influencers apparently only just discovered it and are equating it to the Bud Light + Dylan Mulvany trainwreck that offended everyone.

So, the marketing manager/social media manager at @HecklerAndKoch replied;

Heckler & Koch saying gun bunny ads are bad.

This reply was then in turn quote-tweeted and soon all hell broke loose.

The official H&K account quote-tweeted right back, and that's where it went awry.

"Wow- woke? Allow me to translate: objectifying women was never a good marketing strategy. In the firearms industry, that was a prominent strategy up until recently. Many industries have done that (including beer corps).

As an actual woman typing this, I’ll use more words for you to comprehend: using bunnies to sell products is trash marketing. Supporting women by not doing that is good.

Now to address the rest, non-bikini parts, of the ad: seems like they should have given sources for the info they’re throwing out. And, for them to isolate a huge part of their target consumer base makes no sense. Annnd, their virtue signaling ad doesn’t even make me want to drink their beer 🤷🏼‍♀️ But, at least they used actual women for it (presumably)."

I can't say that I disagree with this. But too late, the Twitter swarm has smelled blood in the water now and so it carried on. First, someone called the brand hypocritical, because H&K have used attractive ladies to show off their guns.

Of course, someone had to ask them if "hunkvertising" was ok, showing the Kraft Salad dressing "Zesty guy" spokesman, that seemingly targeted gay men, not a million offended moms. The social media account handler at Heckler & Koch replies "It’s def not an ad we would create." So once again, I agree with them.

Heckler & Koch temporarily locked down their account after this and cleaned out the controversial replies and quote tweets so we'll have to piece together what happened from what I've managed to find in caches. But from what I can tell, they didn't agree that the Miller Lite ad was like the second coming of Bud Light, and they also don't think hunkvertising is a good strategy. I mean, this really isn't all that controversial, is it?
