A friendly adgrunt in our hood tipped us to this pair - "Pick up todays Politiken paper" he said.. "doesn't that ad for the film fest look a little like those Stella ads?".....
Lets have a look shall we?
A shot of Rådhuspladsen in Copenhagen which has been invaded by characters, props and scenarios from classic films, the message is that "Film has come to town" (with the Copenhagen film festival.)
As you can see, there's Jaws, Chaplin, all sorts in there. "Reminds me quite a lot of Stella Artois recent campaign for a british filmfestival. If its a coincidence I cant say, but it sure smells fishy. " says the tipster. Now for the Stella.
A poster from the recent Stella campaign which shows scenes invaded by characters, props and scenarios from classic films.
Brainsync or blindingly obvious ripoff? Your call kids.
It's obvious that the stella campaign is a real winner as it reinforces stella's already movie orientated tv ads and sponsorship. Excuted in such a way that it's not that easy to get all the movies straight off. (also one's set in st.albans where i used to live)
The Copenhagen film festival however has ok links but it just doesn't look like shots from the movies but a collection of people in fancy dress. the shot is poorly composed and has people unrelated to the movies which seems wrong.
I think it's a case of similtaneous thinking rather than a copy cat but it still isn't as compelling as the where's wally esc nature of the stella ads...

PermalinkWow. Good find. I think brainsync just based on the timing alone. Stella ads started running June or July...I'm not sure that there would have been enough time to copy them. Although I could be wrong. I think the Stella ones are a bit more clear and done a bit better. Bit strange having the shark in the middle of the sidewalk like that in the film festival one.
