Fun and true environmental news you can use as COP21 kicks into high gear. Akon's charity Akon Lighting Africa, is doing a lot to help 14 African countries end their reliance on expensive and toxic fuels like kerosene. There are 600 million people in Africa living without electricity which is a staggering number. Akon is from Senegal and started the charity with Thione Niang, a Senegalese political activist and Samba Bathily, a Malian entrepreneur and CEO of the solar energy company Solektra International. It is expected to make a big impact in countries across the continent.
I wish for every doom and gloom ad abotu climate change which only perpetuates defeatism, we'd have more stories like this one for the Climate Reality Project.
