Banner ads created 'live' for SOL

I've been giggling non-stop ever since I discovered the collection of live Web portal SOL ads via adfreak's post "Sharpen your pencils, make some ‘live’ ads. The ads were drawn live around the constantly updating newspaper headlines by crazy creatives at Interactive agency MediaFront in Norway, and inside I translate he ones that made me tee-hee-hee the most for you folks who can't read Norwegian (suckers! Good thing you know me!).

The classic pun-meister in action. Headline on news "Katie Melua answers your questions"

Ads reply - four gals, one with a knitted hat and the words "find Katie me Lua" (Katie with knitted hat)

headline: CIA agent is selling Che's hair.

Ads reply: Buy Che's hair and stick in someone elses soup. An expensive but funny practical joke.

This one simply plays with the images.

Guy on the left: "What's that guy in the photo the right so pissed about?" Guy on the right: "where's the TOP OF MY HEAD!?"

I'm all for ad media that brings the first idea-scribbles alive right as they are conceived, sometimes they are the funniest.

Very interesting idea, but I think the jokes might be lost in the translation.

Oh yeah, I was just reading ad age:

The deceptively simple "Sol Comments" campaign used handwritten banner ads that copywriters created in real time, responding to content on the sites in which the banners lived. "We liked the comment it made about the enduring value of real creativity in the medium," Ms. DeCourcy noted
