Todays clueless: Associated Press threatens affiliate for using the A.P. youtube channel video embed function.

In todays fast paced world of embedding possibilities, link economy, and dual nature of the youtube site (are they approved videos or copyright infringing videos uploaded by random fans? You never know! It's like a box of chocolates!) one can understand that some people get a little confused. This however, is a laugh a minute.

Techcrunch: A.P. Exec Doesn’t Know It Has A YouTube Channel: Threatens Affiliate For Embedding Videos

A country radio station in Tennessee, WTNQ-FM, received a cease-and-desist letter from an A.P. vice president of affiliate relations for posting videos from the A.P.’s official Youtube channel on its Website.

You cannot make this stuff up. Forget for a moment that WTNQ is itself an A.P. affiliate and that the A.P. shouldn’t be harassing its own members. Apparently, nobody told the A.P. executive that the august news organization even has a YouTube channel which the A.P. itself controls...

Here's a piece of free advice for the A.P. - you can turn off the embedding function if you don't like it.

AP's being a bit silly all over the place at the moment.

Some people might say AP stands for Associated Prats. I wouldn't, you understand, but some people might.
