Using computer graphics, Citroen has launched a TV advertising campaign across Europe featuring former Bond Sir Sean Connery getting gradually younger as he drives its latest C6 model.
The 30-second spot for the C6 is being shown in key European markets including Germany, Sweden and France and shows the former James Bond star driving the car around a tropical island. Additionally, the spot has been posted on YouTube and is also part of a viral email campaign. The spot is backed by further direct marketing and insert activity, created by Kitcatt Nohr Alexander Shaw.
It's not all that new, it's been running for ages on Swedish telly - and it's been annoying the heck out of me.
When they paid for Sean's likeness, why didn't they pay for Sean's voice? At the end there where he replies "it's the car" they must have hired the only actor alive who doesn't have a Sean Connery imitation voice. wtf??

Permalinkhahahah. yeah that is pretty poor. Almost to the point of humorous. Almost.
Did Sean Connery's Bond ever even drive a Citroen?

PermalinkI seem to remember Roger Moore driving a 2cv in "For your eyes only". The VO at the end is just shameful. Big Tam must be avenged!

PermalinkSexy Sean did more than Bond! Where's the Bond reference here?

Permalinkmaybe it's the one scene where he is young, which is from bond. in any case, he may have done 100 other movies, but bond is what he is remembered for... anyone for entrapment eh?

Permalinkhehe - there ya go.
I'm not so sure that early shot is from Bond. To me it looked like it was straight from Hitchcock's Marnie, (1964).
/Sean fan. ;)

PermalinkDabitch is right...the spot is ruined by the cheesy V/O. Sean Connery's voice is part and parcel of the whole James Bond mystique. I'm tempted to mash it with a real Connery voice. And probably the most famous voice clip to use would be "Bond...James Bond".

PermalinkAt least 4 of the scenes are from a James Bond film. I would be more impressed if he stepped out of the car looking like he did in "Darby O'Gill and the Little People"! He looked like he's 19 years old, and made out of porcelain in that.
[One of my brothers, the first time he saw that movie, said: "No one can look that good! He looks like a statue or a doll.." - Just so we're clear, my brother is a father and grandfather now, and has never shown any interest in other guys - "Not that there's anything wrong with it!" :-) ]
