#NotABugSplat puts giant portraits of children in the landscapes targeted by drones

Notabugsplat is a giant art installation project created by an artist collective in Pakistan and the US, including the french artist JR. By rolling out a really large image of a child's face near dwellings, the artists hop to jolt drone operators sitting thousands of miles away who refer to kills as BugSplats into realizing that there's great human loss in each strike. Reminds me a little of the 90s field advertising where giant ads were placed under flight path of air traffic to get the attention of travelers. Far more targeted to a specific group, #NotABugSplat was launched with the help of Foundation for Fundamental Rights NPO, and is designed with the colors in mind to be captured by satellites, thus becoming a permanent part of the landscape on online mapping sites. Effective? Probably not in stopping drone operators, but it will generate a lot of press.
