Mr. Sub is a Canadian sub chain. This spot makes fun of Canadians and the Canadian stereotype that they are all polite and orderly. Because they are Canadian.
P.S. Anyone remember when Canadians were quick to school us that Canadian stereotypes weren't accurate?

Does it really matter? People get too worked up over anything these days that they think has the slightest hint of insult towards them, even if it wasn't meant to be taken that way. At the end of the day it's just a commercial from a sub shop, just leave it alone, it's not important.

PermalinkAds are important! They sell subs! This is important! Eh?
The Molsen ad ran in America, which was all kinds of hilarious at the time, and edumucating them 'MURICA people on what really was a Canadian. This sub ad, which is a good ad don't get me wrong, is telling Canadians how polite they are, so that Canadians can nod in recognition and open the door for someone. Ever hear the joke about the difference between a Mexican standoff and a Canadian standoff? The Canadian one never ends because they keep saying "after you"... "No, after you.."
