Hank launch rounds up advertising's super stars

Most folks in the ad biz have found themselves in Demo Love at one time or another. An editor slaps a temp track on a spot - for inspiration, as a place-holder, or simply because it feels right. The director, creatives and the client check out the cut...and there it begins, a whirlwind romance that is doomed from the start, most likely because the track is unavailable. Who cares why? The band hates corporations. Or maybe they broke up. Or maybe they broke up with a corporation.

"We realized a few years ago that taking Music Supervision online was our next big move," said Sarah Gavigan, owner/managing director of Hank and Ten Music. "Hank allows users to search, sort and download music on demand in an environment that has never existed previously." Gavigan was an upstart when she launched Ten Music in 2000 and remains at the forefront of the business; for example, Ten's new Extended Branding division has already put its stamp on work for Nissan Sentra, Virgin Airways, Mercury Vehicles, and Sheraton.

With the launch of Hank comes a music video conceived by New York ad shop Taxi, and directed by Green Dot's The Center for Egalitarian Studies. "Demo Love" features music by Rondo Brothers and a cavalcade of ad stars lamenting the track that got away. The A-listers generously lent their time and talents to the video, now appearing on YouTube, as well as Hank's personal MySpace page. There's some good music on that site although the Search engine has a mind of its own. I just spent half-an-hour lost in there.
