PermalinkThat's due to the 3/4 backlighting (i.e. from over their right shoulders, towards the right side of the screen). [It looks like I should say 2/3 backlighting, since the bright light is shining more on the side of their faces, than on their backs].
It throws their faces into a very strange high-relief, especially Michael Chiklis' head, which already looks cartoonish in normal light. [ ;-> ]
