Goodbye Soda. Hello Bottled Water? Hear it straight from the source with guests Doug Carlson, president/CEO of Fiji Water, and Chris Kempczinksi, vice president of marketing for the water brand portfolio at Pepsi-Cola North America. Doug Carlson describes how Fiji Water was started in 1996, their celebrity following and product placements, and how they’ve become the second highest selling imported bottled water brand. Prior to joining FIJI, Doug was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for The Aspen Skiing Company, a hospitality and ski resort company with $100 million in annual sales.
Chris Kempczinksi talks about Pepsi’s two new beverages Aquafina Sparkling and FlavorSplash and Aquafina’s “Drink More Water” marketing campaign. Prior to joining PepsiCo, Chris was a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group where he focused primarily on consumer products and pharmaceuticals. Chris began his career at Procter & Gamble where he spent four years as a brand manager. You can tune in Saturday 8-10 p.m. CET (2-4 p.m. EST) to theadvertisingshow.com for the live webcast. I'm guessing that the topic of "purified water" (that is, bottled tap water with some extra additives) and the Coke Dasani (Aquafina) Flop in the UK won't be discussed? Or will they? Because that would make me tune in. I'd love to know if Lexis PR managed to do anything to stop the big cancer scare over the purified tap water Coke calls Aquafina/Dasani.
Comparing actual mineral water to bottled tap water is a bit like comparing a Stilton to Velveeta, but I guess they only spoke about their advertising strategies which is the same same all over. ;)
